Carmel, California

Yesterday we spent part of afternoon touring the 17 Mile Drive that skirts the coast of Carmel. Home of Hollywood stars as well as world-class golf courses, the 17 Mile Drive is a toll road that costs $9.75 per vehicle to enter.

Aside from the stately homes and gated compounds, the experience provided us with a combination of waves, rocks, and sandy beaches; the latter three being a sensory picnic from which we could pick and choose.

Carmel itself is a community of four-way stops, speed bumps, and shops. It had the feel of Camden only on a slightly larger scale. Easily walkable and friendly folks. Lots of dogs of all kinds too.

Didn’t meet anyone famous though… darn.

This morning we pulled up camp at Bug Sur and are headed to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and then on to Sunset Beach State Park on Monterey Bay near Watsonville. We’ll keep you posted.

Be sure to read the previous post about Point Lobos State Reserve that was posted today as well.
