Switch-Back to Alpine Heights

Just drove 9 miles on the Old Trail Ridge Rd. to the Alpine Visitors’ Center in the RMNP. The road is dirt, one-way, single lane with lots of switch-backs. Oh, and severe drops about three feet to our left and right depending on the direction of the road. Yikes!

Snow is still here and melting slowly. So far we have seen a baby black bear, big horn sheep, elk, and a wee marmot.

  2. Having spent a great deal of time while growing up in or near Estes Park it is great fun to see you photos. We used to drive the Old Fall River Road on full moon nights-just spectacular-and before it was open for one way travel we hiked down it! Have a great time!
