Refining the itinerary

Spring is busy, busy busy, especially when you are trying to prepare for an extended absence, but we’ve made some refinements to the travel itinerary.

We still need to figure out where we will stay for a night or two in/near Seattle, and add a few stopovers between the long stretches east of Seattle on the way to Glacier NP and the Badlands in South Dakota.

We are also looking for suggestions for the final part of the trip, from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan to Maine.  We were thinking about traveling through Canada, but I’m not finding many places to camp.  Ideas are welcome!

  1. We stayed at this little campground when we were visiting Niagara Falls two summers ago. It doesn’t come up to Maine’s State Parks, but it was quite a nice alternative to the Jellystone and KOA that were the only other choices in the area (the Canadian side of the falls). Just across the street from the campground entrance is the Niagara River with a very nice walking/biking path alongside for miles. Clean bathrooms :)

  2. Wow, this looks so amazing! We loved pictured rocks–I haven’t done Isle Royale yet but have heard it’s amazing. If you do end up going south, there’s a ferry at Manitowoc that crosses lake MI which is a lot of fun. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on the MI side is also lovely. Looks like you have so many great spots to hit already though!

  3. Wow! That is a really impressive trip! I noted your comment on my blog and thought… “gosh I wonder what travels she has planned” and popped over for a long overdue visit to your blog page and found this. You will have a great time – what an adventure and experience.
